The organization began in 1992 through the efforts of 20 professional bull riders, who each contributed $1000. Since that time, the organization has grown to include four tours which collectively stage over 100 events a year. Prize money has exploded from $250,000 in 1994 to over $10 million in 2006.

We carry NFR tickets but also PBR tickets and other rodeo events tickets .

The PBR's premier tour, the Built Ford Tough Series, includes 31 events across the country every year. Pyrotechnics, pulsating music and special effects open each event, and each features the top 45 riders in the world at the time. Riders attempt to stay on a bucking bull for eight seconds, and rides are judged based on both the rider's and the bull's performance. At the end of each event, the top 15 riders compete in the short round, or "short go"; the rider with the highest point total from the entire event becomes the winner.

On November 4, 2007, after a record setting eight event wins in the season, Justin McBride won his second title in three years.

Total viewership, including event attendees and the television audience, grew 51.93 percent between 2002 and 2004. In 2004, 16.4 million fans watched or attended a PBR event.

Randy Bernard runs the PBR as CEO.

The rules are simple. Place a wiry 150-pound cowboy on the back of a hulking, snorting temperamental 2,000 pound bull and see if he can ride the beast for an eternal eight seconds...with one hand strapped to the bull's massive backside.

Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Professional Bull Riders was created in 1992 when a group of 20 bull riders broke away from the traditional rodeo scene and decided to start a circuit for bull riders only. They felt that, as the most popular event in a rodeo, bull riding deserved to be in the limelight and could easily stand alone. Each rider invested a hard-earned $1,000, a few of them borrowing from family and friends, to start the PBR. Today the PBR is still owned by its athletes and is one of the only professional sports able to make such a claim. In 2003, the PBR celebrated its 10th Anniversary and relished the title of the fastest growing extreme sport in the country.

More than 700 bull riders from the U.S., Canada, Brazil, and Australia hold PBR memberships. They compete in more than 100 bull riding events per year on either the elite tour, the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), or the two minor league tours, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour and the Humps n' Horns Tour, for a chance to qualify for the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas and win the coveted title of PBR World Champion.

The 20 original owners took a gamble when they agreed to start this operation, and their gamble has certainly paid off. The corporate sponsors which include Ford, Bud light, Wrangler, Jack Daniel's, Mossy Oak, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company, and the city of Las Vegas have brought such attention to the sport that in after just 10 years, the prize money has sky-rocketed to over $9.5 million dollars.

With the success of the PBR and the increasing sponsorship interests, television networks have climbed on board as well. In 2003, seven BFTS events were aired on NBC. All 29 events aired on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) and a few even aired on the Spanish station Telemundo. Over one hundred million fans tuned in to watch the PBR.

The combination of raw sport and quality entertainment has propelled the PBR to phenomenal growth in live attendance, as well. The PBR plays to sold-out crowds at virtually every stop on their BFTS tour, including a record breaking 33,000 fans in Atlanta's Georgia Dome for the Atlanta Invitational.

Professional Bull Riding is a fierce, rough, and grueling sport with roots deep in American culture. It's America's original extreme sport. The PBR has turned it into a captivating, dangerous, on-the-edge-of-your-seat sporting event, with the best riders and bulls in the world.

Professional Bull Riders

Inc.

The WHO, WHAT, and WHERE of the Professional Bull Riders

Professional Bull Riders, Inc., was founded in 1992 by 20 accomplished bull riders who joined together and took a business risk to try make bull riding – the most popular event in traditional rodeo – into a stand-alone sport. Each rider chipped in $1,000 to help launch his dream of someday seeing bull riders recognized as mainstream professional athletes. Since that time, the PBR, unlike any other rodeo or bull riding organization in North America, has been owned and operated by its athletes. Today more than 700 bull riders from the U. S., Canada, Brazil and Australia hold PBR memberships.

The PBR has flourished in every aspect since its inaugural year. When the first PBR World Champion was crowned in 1994, the PBR's major tour consisted of eight events that offered a combined $250,000. Today, the Built Ford Tough Series Series is a 29-city, $10 million tour that has an estimated 100 million viewers annually tuning in to watch televised PBR events on NBC Sports and the Outdoor Life Network (OLN).

The PBR Headquarters are located in the shadow of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colo. A full-time staff of more than 30 works year-round either at PBR Headquarters or on the road at the dozens of annual PBR events. Eight board of directors work in tandem with the PBR’s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Production Officer and Chief Financial Officer to oversee the daily operation and long-term prosperity of the PBR.
